Outstanding Scholars
Outstanding Scholar awards are part of the University's Excellence Through Commitment Awards Program (see overall guidelines).
SIUC Outstanding Scholars (University-Level)
Southern Illinois University Carbondale instituted the University-Level Outstanding Scholar Award in 1985 to recognize exceptional achievement in research, scholarship, and creative activity. Awardees carry the title of Distinguished Scholar. This award is coordinated by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Dean, which solicits nominations each fall semester.
The nomination deadline for the 2009 award has passed. Look for the deadline for the 2010 award in October 2009. Guidelines will be updated, but we are leaving the old guidelines posted so that faculty and staff can see what is generally required.
